Voice over Phone has Never Looked so Good

It is no secret that a few months ago Skype and Verizon partnered to make a major landmark for VoIP and mobile communication. Since their partnership, the number of Skype calls has grown by a large margin and that number is sure to sky rocket even further in the upcoming months. This is due to two special announcements and some really ingenious advertising.

Not long after the coupling of the two companies made headlines, another remarkable statement was made. This time the news focused on the Apple Company. No longer was the company going to remain exclusive to AT&T. Instead, the newest iPhone model would be made available to the top two mobile companies- the first being Verizon. Now Verizon had two great things going for them and the picture was about to become even better for the communications company.

When rumors of the forward facing camera made the internet, immediately speculation ran wild regarding the potential for video calling on the go; suddenly voice was looking better than ever.

Low and behold, it does. If you need prove of how great it can look, then you simply have to stop fast forwarding your DVR during primetime programming. The new iPhone commercials could just about bring a person to tears for both their content and the new possibilities brought forth by the eagerly anticipated device.

Two final conclusions can be drawn from this sequence of events. First, AT&T has some serious ground to make up. The company, despite its major attempts to improve their network in order to overcome claims that theirs was second rate compared to Verizon’s, finds themselves falling even further behind as the one time solitary hold over the iPhone market slips from their fingers. Secondly, if they are going to reconsider a video calling feature for Google Voice, there is no better time to do so. Whatever the hold ups and hang ups might be, Google is going to miss a seriously huge market if they do not act fast to improve relations with Apple and get that video calling feature online.
