There is no doubt that voicemail has become an integral part of our day to day lives. It seems an odd thing to call and find that a person does not have a voicemail account or answering machine today, whereas just thirty years ago the devices were basically unheard of.
As with all great technology, there comes further innovation. This post is a dedication to those who have been creative with voicemail. Not just the Google Voices of the world, but the unknown individuals who have made voicemail fun. Think for instance of Jerry Seinfeld. Seinfeld’s attempt at the best email greeting was well received and created a trend in creating funny or different greetings.
Since then, the world has heard many very distinct takes on how to best greet friends, family, and others when they take the time to call. One popular take on this, for a while, was the “hello…” greeting that would tempt others to begin talking without realizing they were talking to dead air and before the rest of the message played. Not my favorite, but creative nonetheless. On a much better note, I found a few interesting voicemail greetings recorded on YouTube. Included in those were a tribute to Michael Jackson and “an extremely annoying voicemail message.”

“Extremely Annoying Voicemail Message”
And, just to lighten and brighten your day, allow me to share one more idea with you:
“You have reached _______’s machine. He (or she) is not in the market for anything that you might be selling, and does not care to loan, give, or donate money, but will gladly accept donations. If you would like to give _______ some money, then please leave your name and number after the tone. He (or she) will return your call very quickly.”
Now that I have shared some of my favorites with you, please share with me- the most humorous, obnoxious, annoying, or downright unusual voicemail greeting you have ever heard. I want to hear about it!
